The Merida Cable Car
Without any doubt this place that has the major tourist interest in Mérida state, it is the highest and longest cable car system all over the world. It works since the year 1960; it communicates Mérida with the Espejo peak, one of the highest peaks which have an altitude of 4.765 MASL.
It covers a distance of 12.5 kilometers, crossing an important extension of the Sierra Nevada national park formed by four independent stretches, they go together and they pass throughout 5 stations: Barinitas, La Montaña, La Aguada, Loma Redonda from which you can go to the snow capped and the Espejo peak.
