The basic school of the national force army is located in front of the Plaza Bolivar, in the crossing of the avenues Bolívar and Bermúdez.
This institution operates where the Sucre and Bolivar barracks are located. Its construction was carried out in 2 stages, first the construction of the old Sucre infantry barracks in 1921 and then the construction of the old Bolivar artillery barracks in 1930, both of them are separated by a plaza that preserves a statue of Antonio José de Sucre.
These 2 buildings were designed by the famous architect Ricardo Razetti, which was inspired by the designs of European castles. Its construction was part of a defense and security program that was intended to gather the military units existed in Maracay.
