While Venezuela is characterized by a warm and tropical weather, Mérida is a city with a temperate and mountainous climate. The weather kind of this city ranging from tropical weather in its plains to the moor type in their highest mountains, and from very wet tropical to the semi-arid weather. This particularity is because its geographic situation inside the Andes and its great altitude.

The temperature in this city has very marked differences due to the characteristics of the mountainous terrain. This varies from north to south depending on the altitude. The north of the city has the highest altitude and registers an average temperature of 19 ºC. The South has a warmer weather; it has an average temperature of 21ºC.

Rainfalls have a moderate intensity during the rain season, from April to November.
