Museo Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho

This museum was built in 1945, during the government of Medina Angarita. It is located at Humboldt Avenue in the city of Cumana, alongside of the Ayacucho park and at the left side of the Antonio Josť de Sucre library. Its architecture comes from the mid twentieth century and it has a neo-colonial style, all the areas inside the museum are grouped around a central courtyard through corridors that link every space.

This famous museum shows everything about the life and work of the General Antonio Josť de Sucre, as well as various samples of his belongings and their family's belongings, objects from the twenty century such as paintings, photographs, documents, weapons, scale models of his battles, clothes that he wore, etc.

In the south permanent room is displayed a large collection of iconographic works and objects related to grand marshal Sucre, in this collection highlight his epaulettes, a hat that belonged to his aide, a sketch prepared by the general himself that contains the war strategy used in the battle of Ayacucho, his original baptism book containing the act of baptism and the original will of his father.
