Misión de la Purísima Concepción del Caroní

Misión de la Purísima Concepción del Caroní
It is located in the via Pao-San Felix, it was founded in the eighteenth century with the name "Purísima Concepción de Suay " (Immaculate Conception of Suay) by the Catalans Capuchin friars who introduced the agriculture and iron forge.

In 1729 the city was hit by a plague of smallpox, a few years after this tragedy it was burned by British people and in 1747 its population was decimated by an epidemic of measles.

The architecture of this church is different from others existing in Vemezuela due to its particular construction, the bell tower is located at the rear part of the building rather than be located near to the front.
